Turkey imposes ten percent duty on imports of rebar
According to Turkey’s Official Gazette, the 10 percent import duty on rebar which was removed at the beginning of 2018 will be reintroduced as of January 1, 2019. The import duty on rebar in Turkey was first decreased to ten percent from 30 percent in July 2017, and then completely removed as of January 1, 2018.
Similarly, the import duty on hot rolled coil (HRC) for rolling mills, which was reduced to 3.5 percent at the beginning of 2018, is now increased to six percent as of January 1, 2019, while welded pipe producers will be subject to the same duty for their HRC imports. Meanwhile, the duty on imports of HRC from third countries will remain at nine percent. On the other hand, producers of cold rolled coil from alloyed HRC will no longer be excluded from import duties on HRC, but will be charged with six percent duty.
The import duty on cold rolled coil which was five percent for galvanized sheet and seven percent for pre-painted sheet will be seven percent for both and household appliance manufacturers will also be subject to this seven percent duty for their cold rolled coil imports.
Furthermore, the import duty on hot rolled flat steel and hot rolled bar made of tool steel have been removed.
